This course will explore hypotheses that attempt to explain how arboreal apes evolved into terrestrial humans, and how the earliest hominins(human ancestors) evolved into modern H. sapiens. Special emphasis will be placed upon anatomical structures that are especially clinically relevant so that students begin to understand evolution's relevane to medicine. Content will be delievered through traditional lectures and textbook readings that are supplemented with readings from the peer-reviewed original literature, as well as hands-on laboratory exercises.
