This course builds upon the principles of general pharmacology with emphasis on basic principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Specific emphasis will be placed on adjuvant drugs used in anesthesia and the effects on human systems. Areas of focus include psychopharmacological medications, prostaglandins, tocolytics, uterotonics, antineoplastic therapies, and histamine antagonists. Drugs and other treatments for acute and chronic pain are also examined. Principles of chemistry will be integrated throughout the course. Pre-requisites: All Spring I Nurse Anesthesia Courses.
