This is the second in a series of clinical courses which provides immersive opportunities to synthesize advanced theoretical knowledge for the collaborative management of adult and geriatric populations with complex multisystem health crises. Through the completion of 225 clinical hours with preceptors in a variety of diverse acute care settings, students move beyond single-system management to address physiological instability of patients with overlapping acute-on-chronic illnesses. Students will execute high-level diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making under pressure, integrating risk analysis for high-acuity procedures and transitions of care. Emphasis is placed on mitigating health disparities for underserved populations in acute care environments. Students refine their ability to coordinate interprofessional teams, ensuring safety and quality while navigating the ethical and legal complexities of life-threatening conditions across the illness continuum.
