Lincoln Memorial University’s MSN program offers the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) concentration, which prepares nurses in an advanced practice role who specialize in managing high complexity, critically ill patients (ages 13+) within in-patient settings throughout the healthcare system. Clinical courses have a 1:5 credit hour to clinical hour ratio. The seventeen-month program requires 44 semester hours of graduate course work including 750 clinical hours. A comprehensive exam is required during the final semester.
Students may request full or part-time status for the AGACNP concentration. The part-time option is only offered on a space available basis. All AGACNP students must meet with their advisor to plan an individualized progression plan. This individualized plan helps to ensure that course prerequisites are met and future course availability. A change in status from part-time to full-time or vice versa must be approved by the AGACNP concentration director and a new curriculum plan must be designed with the faculty advisor.
If a student has completed another MSN degree, a gap analysis will be performed to assess which courses will be accepted into the program and an individualized program of study will be determined in collaboration with the AGACNP program director and/or Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs for the Caylor School of Nursing. At the end of the program, the student would be awarded a second MSN degree.
The full-time AGACNP curriculum plan is provided below. This concentration is offered online.
Please note: The online student will be required to attend on-site intensives during the program.
